Emoji puzzles are the quiz everyone already knows how to play: you see a few pictures, you say the phrase out loud before anyone else. This version runs it live for a whole room, keeps score, and stops anyone copying the answer from chat.
How to play the emoji quiz
- A puzzle appears: a few emojis, a category (Movie, Saying, Food, Place, At work or One word) and a blank for every letter.
- Everyone types at once. Use the answer box or the chat. Wrong guesses show in chat as normal, which is half the fun.
- Right answers stay hidden. The room sees that you solved it, never what you typed. Once you have solved it, the chat will not let you give it away.
- Halfway through, the first letter of each word appears. Three puzzles make a round, and the puzzle ends early once everyone has solved it.
Scoring
- 300 points for a correct answer.
- Up to 400 more for speed, scaled by the time left on the clock.
- 100 extra for the first person in the room to solve it.
- Close does not count, but you are told privately when you are one letter away.
Matching is forgiving on purpose. "the lion king", "Lion King" and "lion-king!" are the same answer: capitals, spaces, punctuation and a leading "the" are ignored, so the person who knew it first is the person who scores.
It works with one person. Add bots in the lobby and they solve puzzles at believable speeds, missing some, which makes it a good way to try the game before running it for a team.
92 puzzles, all safe for work
The game draws from 92 puzzles across six categories: classic movies, everyday sayings, food, countries and cities, office life, and two-emoji compound words like ☀️🌸 for sunflower. Nothing needs pop-culture deep cuts, so new starters and long-timers are on equal footing.
