Word Bomb is a fast word game for people who think best under pressure. The rules take ten seconds to explain, a round takes a few minutes, and the ticking bomb makes even a quiet group loud. If you have played BombParty on jklm.fun, this will feel familiar.
How to play Word Bomb online
- Create a free room and share the link. It runs in the browser on phones and laptops, with no account and no download. Start alone and bots take the other seats.
- The bomb shows a fragment of two or three letters, such as ER, TH or STR.
- When it reaches you, type a real word that contains those letters and press Defuse. The word can be any length from three letters, and the fragment can sit anywhere inside it.
- A valid word passes the bomb on with a new fragment. If the fuse runs out first, you lose a life and the bomb explodes.
- Everyone starts with two lives. Lose both and you are out. The last player standing wins the round.
Scoring
- 100 points for every word you defuse the bomb with, plus 15 for each letter beyond four. Long words pay more.
- 500 bonus points for the last player standing at the end of a round.
- No word twice. A word that has been used this round cannot be used again, so the easy answers run out as the game goes on.
The default is three rounds, and your points add up across them, so a quick player who is knocked out early can still win overall by scoring well in the next round.
The fuse and the fragments
You get ten seconds at first. The fuse shortens as the game goes on, down to about five and a half seconds, so the late turns are frantic. Fragments start easy, like ING or ER, which sit inside thousands of words. Later bombs bring harder ones, but every fragment is checked against the dictionary and only used if at least 120 words contain it, so a bomb can always be defused.
What counts as a word
Any word of three or more letters from a list of about 173,000 English words. That includes plurals and past tenses (cats, walked) and a short list of common modern words like internet and email. Proper names, abbreviations and very new slang are not accepted. The rules are the same for everyone, bots included.
Everyone else watches. Up to 16 people take turns with the bomb. Anyone else in the room sees the game live, including the letters the bomb holder is typing, which is half the fun.
Tips for staying alive
- Think in endings and middles. For ING, ION or TION, picture words that end that way: running, nation, creation.
- Start with short words. A quick four-letter word beats a clever long one that runs out the fuse.
- Save your long words. They are worth more, but only when the fuse is not close.
- Watch what has been used. The last few words appear under the bomb, so avoid the ones that are gone.

Word Bomb cheat sheet: words for tricky letter combinations
Each turn the bomb shows two or three letters, and you type any real word that contains them in that order, anywhere in the word. The fuse is short, so it helps to keep a few words ready for the awkward combinations:
- GHT: light, night, fight
- TCH: match, watch, pitch
- CK: back, pocket, trick
- GH: though, enough, through
Longer words score more, at 100 points plus 15 for every letter over four, but only if you finish before the fuse does, so a safe short word beats a clever one that never lands.
