Your tank is waiting for its first fish

Draw any fish you like. It will swim, eat and grow right here.

Draw your own fish aquarium

Doodle Reef is a free draw a fish game online. Your drawing becomes a fish that swims, eats and grows in a tank you build yourself.

Draw a fish

Use the crayon, brush or fill bucket. Draw it facing right and it turns around by itself as it swims.

Feed it

Tap the water to drop food. Hungry fish swim over to eat, and every meal makes them grow a little.

Earn pearls

Fish earn pearls when they eat. Spend them on coral, a shell, a starfish, a treasure chest or a castle.

Relax

Focus mode fills the screen with a calm tank, with an optional 5, 15 or 25 minute timer.

A virtual aquarium for kids, and for grown-ups who need a calm minute

Children love seeing their own drawing move. A wobbly fish with three fins and a purple tail is just as welcome as a careful one, and it swims with the same easy, natural motion: it drifts, bobs, turns around near the glass and rushes over when food drops in.

The tank is a solo space. There is no chat, no account, no name to type and no feed of other people's drawings, so there is nothing to moderate and nothing unkind to stumble on. Fish and plants are saved in the browser on your own device, and nothing is uploaded to us.

Grown-ups use it too. Put it in focus mode on a spare screen as a living aquarium, or start the 25 minute timer and let the fish keep you company while you work.

Ideas for your next fish

  • A striped clownfish in orange and white with a thin black outline.
  • A round pufferfish covered in tiny spikes.
  • A long, wavy eel or a sea snake in bright green.
  • A rainbow fish: draw the outline, then use Fill on each scale.
  • Something no ocean has ever seen, like a fish with wings or a pizza fish.

Draw a fish website: questions

What to know before you fill the tank.

Is there a free draw a fish game online?

Yes. Doodle Reef is free to play in your browser. Draw a fish with a crayon or a brush, press Put it in the tank, and it swims in your own aquarium. There is no download, no sign-up and no ads.

How do I draw my own fish for the aquarium?

Press Draw a fish, then draw it facing right with the nose on the right side. Use the crayon, the brush or the fill bucket, and press Undo if a line goes wrong. When you put it in the tank, the drawing becomes your fish and turns around by itself as it swims.

Is this virtual aquarium safe for kids?

Yes. There is no chat, no account, no name to type and no way to share a fish with strangers. Nothing you draw is uploaded: the tank is saved in the browser on your own device. There are no ads, and we do not use Google Analytics, session recording or advertising cookies on this page.

How do pearls work?

Pearls are the tank currency. You earn them when your fish eat, when you draw a new fish or plant, during focus time, and from a treasure chest. Spend them on decorations such as coral, a shell, a starfish, a treasure chest and a castle.

Do my fish grow?

Yes. Tap the water to drop food. Hungry fish swim over to eat it, and every meal makes a fish grow a little, up to about one and a half times its first size. A fish that has just eaten waits a few seconds before it is hungry again.

What is focus mode?

Focus mode fills the screen with a calm tank and hides the buttons. Use it as a relaxing screen, or pick a 5, 15 or 25 minute timer for homework or quiet time. You earn a pearl for every minute.

How many fish can I keep?

Up to 30 fish and 12 plants, so the tank stays smooth on phones and tablets. Let a fish go in My tank to make room for a new one.

Can I save my fish or the tank?

Yes. Press Save picture for a PNG of the whole tank, or open My tank and press Save PNG next to any fish. The tank itself is saved on this device automatically, so your fish are still there next time you visit in the same browser.
